REVIEW:
We had these wonderful crackers at lunch the other day. They were some of the best crackers we have had and they’re gluten free! They are extremely flavorful as they are made of several different seeds, including brown rice, whole grain corn, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, and flax seeds. I took a look at the nutrition facts on these crackers and they are very reasonable compared to many other similar crackers. Only 130 calories, 25 from fat, and only 160mg of sodium per serving and the serving size isn’t too bad at 15 crackers.
These crackers are really crunchy too. The crunch reminds me of the crunch you would get from an Asian rice cracker. If you have had one of these, you know what I’m talking about; that light, yet airy crunch.
These crackers are great, but there is one thing that I didn’t like so much and that is that there’s only 4oz of crackers in the box, which is a little on the low side. The cost per ounce is about $0.90. Comparing that to other gluten free crackers, the cost is a little higher, but I do believe these crackers taste better than the others I’ve had.
Taste: These crackers taste great. You can eat them alone or with your favorite dip. They are also pretty solid and can easily hold up to your favorite dip. I read a few other reviews on these that say that they were too salty. I’m not sure if they have made tweaks, but I didn’t find them too salty. Looking at the nutrition facts on the side of the box and sodium content is actually 100mg less than the Glutino crackers that were recently reviewed. I think the flavor from the different seeds contained in this cracker is the main reasons why it has so much flavor. I would definitely recommend this cracker on taste and texture alone.
Labeling: The labeling is printed on recycled brown paperboard so it is a little difficult to read. The paperboard itself is already dark and they print with even darker brown. I guess it’s the “natural” look that they’re going for that fits with their company theme, but I found the box a little hard on the eyes to read. I did see that this cracker is Certified Gluten-Free which is nice because a lot of products that we have been trying are not. I also like to look and see if the products we test are vegan and judging by the ingredients, I believe it is, but nowhere on the box does it claim that it is. If it was vegan, I would think that it might be good to put it on the box.
Packaging: Nice recycled packaging and it is printed with inks derived from vegetables such as soy, flax and tree nuts…that might explain why everything is brown.
