REVIEW:

I know Trader Joe’s for their delicious, yet healthy snacks…well healthier than other snacks.  When I saw these Sea Salt & Pepper Crisps on our lunch table, I knew I was in for a treat.  These Crisps are made with rice so they are gluten-free, they are baked so they have less fat than regular potato chips, and the name includes  the word CRISP.  So what’s the verdict on these you ask?  One word…DELICIOUS.  Simple flavor, great texture, reasonable nutritional facts, attractive labeling, this just might find a nice home in my pantry.

NOTE: The packaging states that this product is made on shared equipment with wheat and soy and the facility processes milk and tree nuts.  If you have a severe allergy you might want to stay away as there might be cross contamination between batches.

Taste: The simple flavor of just salt and pepper is really all these crisps need.  Combine that with the awesome crunch and you have a fantastic snack.  Rice is pretty bland tasting, but they add other things like onion and garlic powder to enhance the flavor.  Whatever they did, I think they got it right because the flavor is just right and not o verpowering like many other salty snacks.  These crisps are very light and crispy probably because they are baked.  Think baked lays, but with a lot more crunch.

Labeling: Nice simple labeling on this package, but it would probably be cooler if they had pictures of rice fields like the one below.  They claim to have 65% less fat than regular potato chip good news because you will probably be eating 65% more because they are so good.

Packaging: Non-recyclable plastic packaging.
